Philadelphia, PA (PRWEB) November 16, 2015 -- November 19, 2015, will mark the 25th anniversary for Drucker & Scaccetti (D&S), a tax planning and consulting firm. D&S, or “The Tax Warriors” as they are known in the profession, has grown from seven employees to over 60 and has become a recognized leader in tax advisory services. The story of the firm’s beginning still resonates with many in the business and accounting worlds in Philadelphia.
When Philadelphia accounting giant Laventhol & Horwath (L&H) suddenly closed its doors right before Thanksgiving in 1990, Ron Drucker and Jane Scaccetti saw an opportunity.
“So many doubted that we could survive as a tax-only accounting firm,” says Drucker, chairman emeritus of D&S. “It was a risk, but so many clients supported our venture by agreeing to come with us.”
“I was a brand new mom, so everyone told me to accept one of the offers from the big firms,” says Scaccetti, D&S CEO. “Today, we’ve built a firm with an amazing culture and some of the smartest tax minds anywhere. I’m glad I listened to my gut.”
D&S is one of the first firms to form in the wake of the L&H collapse. Bruce Benjamin, Robert Polans and Mark Sobel are the others from L&H who started D&S and remain with the firm as founding shareholders.
The growth of D&S has steadily continued. As tax issues for both businesses and individuals become more complex, D&S sees tax planning and compliance as a business strategy to grow and sustain wealth. Attorneys, accountants and wealth managers from around the country continue to recommend D&S for their clients. Even within tax, the firm has sub-specialties in areas like real estate, pass-through entities, trusts and estate planning, women in transition, family-owned businesses, executive compensation, law firms, and LGBT family tax consulting.
The growth and sustenance of D&S comes from its unique culture. The firm has been a Philadelphia Business Journal “Best Places to Work” finalist three times in the last 10 years. Its focus on recruiting from Philadelphia-area colleges and universities helps build the local economy and keep talented accounting graduates in the area connected to the future business leaders. And, the fun atmosphere, balanced with challenging work, is appealing to young accountants.
“Because of our culture and family-like workplace, we’ve had several employees return after leaving,” says Benjamin. “We simply are a great place to have a rewarding accounting career.”
Last week, the firm held a celebration party attended by over 130 employees and guests at Tendenza in Northern Liberties. Other festivities and communications are planned for this week.
“We owe our clients and staff so much. Without them, none of this would be possible,” says Scaccetti. “We look forward to many more years of growth and prosperity.”
