Boston (PRWEB) April 29, 2014 -- Phillip Brake, PE, has been promoted to senior vice president and Massachusetts office leader. He will lead HNTB’s combined Boston and Chelmsford office. Brake has directed the Chelmsford office since 2010.
Brake has more than 20 years of experience in transportation systems, including railroad corridor planning, engineering and construction management expertise. He joined HNTB in 2002 and is a registered professional engineer in six states.
In his expanded role, Brake is responsible for driving the strategic direction of the Massachusetts practice and overseeing the delivering of infrastructure solutions for a variety of regional transportation agencies, including the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority, Massachusetts Bay Commuter Railroad Co., Toronto Transit Commission, Connecticut Department of Transportation, Maine Department of Transportation and the Northern New England Passenger Rail Authority.

Brake is active in a number of industry organizations, including the American Council of Engineering Companies, American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association, the American Institute of Steel Construction, and the Women’s Transportation Seminar. Brake also serves as a board member of the Boston based A Better City organization that promotes strategic enhancements to the region’s transportation system.
