Phoenix Crime Victim Attorney Sara J. Powell to Present at the Fall 2013 Arizona Victim Assistance Advanced Academy on November 8, 2013
Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) October 22, 2013 -- Phoenix Crime Victim Attorney Sara J. Powell will present at the upcoming “Fall 2013 Arizona Victim Assistance Advanced Academy” on Friday, November 8, 2013. The training session will be conducted from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (MST) at the Desert Willow Conference Center located at 4340 East Cotton Center Boulevard in Phoenix, Arizona 85040.
The academy training is sponsored by the Arizona Coalition for Victim Services (ACVS), a network of individuals and agencies that provides services to crime victims. As a nonprofit 501(c)3 agency, ACVS promotes and protects the rights of victims through leadership, advocacy and community education.
ACVS offers a “Basic Academy” designed for advocates new to victim services and an “Advanced Academy” structured for more experienced advocates and supervisors who have more experience in the field of victim advocacy. Both Academies provide victim service professionals with opportunities to learn, interact and network with other advocates. Sessions are conducted by experienced service providers and educators from across Arizona.
The upcoming Advanced Academy will focus on criminal justice system topics including specialty courts, a judge’s panel, preparing victims for court and facility dogs in court. As one of the presenters in this training, attorney Sara J. Powell will conduct a one-hour session on civil legal remedies for crime victims. The presentation fits well with training’s overall theme.
“The ACVS Academies offer comprehensive training to address the most pressing issues advocates and supervisors in victim service agencies face,” said Sara Powell, attorney, Law Office of Sara J. Powell. “Working together, we can improve the quantity and quality of services provided to our community’s victims. I look forward to contributing to a successful training.”
