Phoenix Startup Aspires to Provide Job Training and Placement at No Cost
Phoenix (PRWEB) March 18, 2014 -- A new startup in the Phoenix area aims to provide intensive, hands-on training and job placement in the software development field at no cost to the individuals.
The two-month training will provide intensive courses on the Agile methodology most in demand by employers and give apprentices practical experience by working on activities like product support, consulting and open-source software development. After the training is complete, the apprentice will be placed in a job aligned to their gained skills and experiences. The apprentice does not pay for the training, their employer will pay fees similar to how an employment agency operates.
The startup aims to collaborate with other technology startups, small businesses and any other organizations to allow the apprentices to work on their software development projects related to their business at no cost to them.
“By giving our apprentices this intensive training and real-world experience over a two-month period, we are making sure that they understand how to lead a software development team in the most efficient manner possible. I’d say that’s a win-win for everyone,” said Larry Apke, founder and Agile coach.
In order to support this endeavor, Apke is holding a crowd funding campaign on Indiegogo to allow ten apprentices to participate in the training and for any other associated costs. The campaign’s goal is $40,000 and will end April 30.
“By raising this money, it will give us a chance to prove this concept and I welcome anyone to reach out to us if they are interested in helping, taking our training or partnering with us,” said Apke.
Apke has been active in the Agile and Scrum community for almost 10 years as an Agile coach and consultant before undertaking this enterprise. He has given presentations to classes at the Arizona State W.P. Carey School of Business, the Phoenix Scrum Users Group, the Java Users Group, Desert Code Camp and others.
