Physician Board Certification in Administrative Medicine Offered
Tampa, FL (PRWEB) October 15, 2015 -- The American Board of Administrative Medicine® (ABAM) is proud to announce that applications are now being accepted for its inaugural administrative medicine examination for physicians who serve in management and leadership capacities of healthcare organizations. The initial exam will be administered in October 2016 at testing centers throughout the United States, Puerto Rico and Canada.
While many physicians pursue board certification in their medical specialty, the ABAM offers an opportunity for certification in the administrative side of medicine. This allows our Diplomates to further demonstrate their strong business acumen to employers, hospital CEOs, boards of trustees, and other stakeholders.
The ABAM credential is designed to recognize physician leaders who hold a Master’s degree in a related field or have significantly relevant and practical administrative experience. There are multiple pathways to apply for, and earn, the credential.
As the healthcare industry continues to evolve, physician leadership and business expertise is more important than ever before.
In order to be considered for board certification through the ABAM, the physician must:
• Hold a master’s degree in business administration, medical management, or healthcare administration, or have at least five years of cumulative experience in an administrative position
• Currently hold, or previously have held, board certification through the ABPS, ABMS, AOA, or a RCPSC board
• Have a valid and unrestricted license to practice medicine
