Pines of Sarasota Education & Training Institute presents Seminars about Transitioning into a Senior Care Community
Sarasota, Florida (PRWEB) October 28, 2016 -- Pines of Sarasota Education and Training Institute will host two skill-focused workshops on December 12, 2016, about when and how to transition a loved one into a senior care community. Teepa Snow, MS, OTR/L, FAOTA, an internationally renowned dementia care expert, will be the workshops’ presenter.
In the 9am to 12pm workshop, titled “Transitioning into a Senior Care Community: Why, When, and How?,” attendees will learn about the signals that it might be time to make the move, and how to best talk to a loved one about it to protect their feelings and dignity. “When people ask me how to know it’s time to move a loved one into a senior care community, I usually tell them: 3 months ago,” Teepa Snow explains. “Caregivers are some of the most dedicated and loving people you will ever meet, but that also leaves them vulnerable to wanting to take on too much. Transitioning a loved one into a care community does not mean that you’re pushing them away or giving up; it means that you want them to have the best care possible while reducing your own risk of falling ill from caregiver stress.”
The 1-4pm workshop will focus on “Selecting the Best Care Level for Your Loved One.” JoAnn Westbrook, Director of Education and licensed Nursing Home Administrator, explains: “Unless you have worked in a senior care environment, the many different options and care levels can be very confusing to folks that are looking for a care community for a family member. Whether you are just starting out or already have a loved one in an independent or assisted living facility, this seminar will help you navigate the maze and select the most appropriate community.
