Pingboard Launches Social Company Directory to Modernize Office Operations, Opens Access to API
Austin, Texas (PRWEB) June 12, 2014 -- Pingboard, the modern social company directory, today launched to the public after five months of closed beta. They also announced they are opening up beta access to their API so companies can use Pingboard as their employee information hub for other applications. After refining operations with thousands of beta users, Pingboard is now available to anyone on the web and iOS, with Android being released in the following weeks.
Pingboard is one of the first software applications built to serve office management specifically, helping companies automate their office and better support high-performing teams. Scattered spreadsheets and clunky manual processes are replaced with a slick directory that houses employee information and an API for developers to automate processes around that information -- everything from phone numbers, emergency contacts and badge numbers to dietary restrictions, tshirt sizes and favorite sports teams.
“Office managers are the backbone of any well-run business, the glue that holds everyone together. They have a huge impact on productivity and culture, yet there is no software built just for their needs. Instead, today many small businesses rely on spreadsheets and piecemeal solutions,” said Bill Boebel, founder. “We realized what they needed was a reliable hub for their people's information and an easier way to protect and share that information. Pingboard automates those processes, freeing up time for the fun and more important initiatives that matter. We’ve spent the last five months learning from the thousands of employees on our platform and we’re excited to open the doors to the rest of the public.”
With Pingboard, information can be easily uploaded and updated, even by the employees themselves, and seamlessly shared. Messaging functionality allows employees to easily ping each other or be pinged, for example when an office visitor arrives. Companies can customize Pingboard to store any type of employee data, and control access to who is able to view and edit that data. The platform easily lets you integrate your data with popular operations tools like Google Apps and TribeHR, making it possible to manage your employee information in one place rather than entering it multiple times.
Starting today, companies can also apply to join the API beta and build their own custom apps using their directory. Pingboard is granting API access to select companies, and seeking input that will guide the future direction of the API.
“The beta Pingboard API has all of the necessary features to access and manage employee data, and this is just the beginning. It has been exciting to witness companies already extending Pingboard with their own custom-built apps,” continued Boebel. “Until now there hasn’t been a way to programmatically access information about employees. Already we have seen people coming up with creative apps, using information that was previously impossible to reliably pull through an API like a coworkers’ phone number. We’ve seen everything from an app that automatically texts everyone in a HipChat room as a result of a tag used in the chat to a flash card game for learning names and faces. We love the idea that Pingboard will eventually serve as the hub for anyone or any app that needs reliable, always-up-to-date access to employee information. This can dramatically improve not only office operations, but office culture.”
An entire team can now access the company directory from anywhere with the new Pingboard mobile apps. Users can also sync the directory with their phone’s native address book, something other popular email products don’t fully support.
In January, Pingboard closed a $1.25M seed round of venture funding. Companies interested in signing up for Pingboard or learning more about the employee API, can find out more at http://www.pingboard.com.
