Pinpoint Labs SharePoint Collector Release Adds Office 365 support to Its Popular E-Discovery Collection Software
Murray, Nebraska (PRWEB) March 24, 2015 -- Pinpoint Labs, a forensic software and litigation support firm, announced the release of the latest update to SharePoint Collector.
SharePoint Collector continues to provide corporate IT managers, forensic computer examiners and litigation support professionals with defensible E-Discovery collection software tools using the following features and capabilities: Runs from external hard drive or client system without installation; Collects documents and list items; Extract metadata; Retain folder structure and file names; hash verifies content; Maintains Chain of Custody; Collects from remote servers.
With the release of SharePoint Collector 3.0, users can collect documents and list items from SharePoint sites created within Microsoft Office 365 and other sites which use claims based authentication (CBA). Claims based authentication introduces an additional layer of security within organizations and 3rd party applications must be specifically designed to handle these advanced protocols.
SharePoint Collector users now have an additional login option when creating new jobs to select claims based authentication and enter the additional credentials. Once login is successful SharePoint Collector handles the additional communications seamlessly. Due to Microsoft Office 365 increasing popularity discoverable information within the web portal will become commonplace.
In keeping with best practices for preserving and collecting E-Discovery data, Pinpoint Labs designed SharePoint Collector 3.0 to be run without needing access to the physical SharePoint server or requiring software installation. When the client project is finished, all critical data is neatly organized and forensically sound, keeping the chain of custody intact.
As Jon Rowe, President of Pinpoint Labs and a highly experienced computer forensic examiner noted,
"Since releasing SharePoint Collector 3 years ago we have had the opportunity to assist clients with a wide variety of SharePoint site setups. After noticing a significant increase in the number of users encountering Office 365 we knew we needed to take the time to add the functionality. One of our clients mentioned that they haven’t been able to locate any other collection tools that incorporate claims based authentication. I’m very proud of our engineers and what they have accomplished.”
