Pittsburgh Tech Company Duolingo Partners with Pittsburgh International Airport to Deliver Complimentary Wi-Fi
PITTSBURGH (PRWEB) September 14, 2016 -- Pittsburgh International Airport is pleased to announce a new partnership with local tech startup Duolingo to provide free Wi-Fi to passengers.
Duolingo is a free, science-based language education platform that has organically grown to become the most popular way to learn languages online. Pittsburgh International Airport was the first airport in the U.S. to offer free public Wi-Fi in 2003.
Founded by Carnegie Mellon University professor Luis von Ahn, CEO, and Severin Hacker, PhD, CTO, Duolingo offers a fun and effective way to learn more than 20 languages. It currently has more than 150 million users worldwide and is the most downloaded educational app of all time.
“We’re excited to partner with Pittsburgh International Airport. We’re a globally recognized brand and we want all of Pittsburgh — and everyone who visits — to know that we’re here and we’re proud to be making this great city famous around the world,” said CEO and co-founder Luis von Ahn.
Noting a 40 percent increase in international traffic in 2016, Airport Authority CEO Christina Cassotis said she is hopeful the partnership could lead to additional opportunities in the terminal including improved signage and translation services for passengers.
“As we look to improve customer service and provide additional amenities for an increasingly global society, and as we work to showcase more of our region’s innovation, we hope this is the first step in a long relationship with Duolingo and other successful tech firms in the region,” she said.
