Placeable Research Reveals Consumers Trust, But Don’t Use Mobile Payments
DENVER (PRWEB) February 11, 2015 -- Consumers say they trust mobile payments, but more than 90 percent say they don’t use mobile payments when they are available. Placeable, the location-based marketing technology for enterprise advertisers, surveyed more than 1,000 consumers to better understand how mobile commerce behaviors and trends are evolving, and found that consumer adoption is still lagging—despite continued overall mobile growth.
“While smartphones are ubiquitous today, our research discovered that consumers’ purchasing habits have been slow to adapt,” said Michael Bevan, Director of Marketing at Placeable. “As brands—particularly those in the retail and restaurant industries—strive to offer the optimal mobile experience for their customers, it’s critical that they understand how consumers feel about mobile so they can provide options that engage customers and drive sales.”
While smartphone usage continues to increase, consumers are still reluctant to make purchases on them or use them for payments. Among the key findings uncovered in the study:
• Approximately 70 percent of consumers trust mobile payments
• Nearly half of consumers have never purchased anything on their mobile phones
• Nine out of 10 consumers don’t use mobile payments even when they are available
• Six out of 10 consumers use their smartphone to find products online and in-store
