Plan Ahead for Some of the Best Attractions in Westchester
White Plains, N.Y. (PRWEB) July 13, 2015 -- It’s not too late to plan a weekend in Westchester this summer. Whether visiting with family, friends or solo, there’s so much to do in the heart of the Hudson Valley. Westchester County Tourism has provided a variety of itineraries designed to meet every visitors’ special interest – with activities from live music and family activities, to driving adventures and a tasting tour, visitors will never want to leave Westchester.
“Westchester has a wide range of programs, activities and events available to explore,” County Executive Robert P. Astorino said. “Visitors do not have to travel far to have a great time. Westchester has it all.”
The following is a sample of some of Westchester County’s Favorite Escapes and upcoming attractions:
Westchester’s Summer Escapes
Adventure Seekers: Looking to get outside and really be adventurous? Westchester is the perfect place to take the kids out for a hike or link up with an old pal and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Hudson River. L.L Bean Outdoor Discovery gives those interested in water sports a chance to paddle board or kayak at Five Islands Park on the Long Island Sound. Or stay on land and enjoy Croton Point Park’s 508 acres of pure beauty. Although Anthony’s Nose is a strenuous 3.5 hour hike, the view of the Hudson River from the top is one that visitors don’t want to miss.
Westchester Without a Car: One of the best things about Westchester is its accessibility. No car? No problem! The variety of mass transit available to tourists and residents in the area allows for anyone to get from New York City to Westchester in less than an hour. Metro-North connects all parts of Westchester to Grand Central Terminal. Visitors can cheaply and conveniently get in and out of the city. Enjoy a Metro-North train ride up to Tarrytown Waterfront and experience the Scenic Hudson Riverwalk Park. With tons of delicious restaurants and Pierson Park nearby, a night in Tarrytown will be a memorable one.
Tasting Tour & Picnic: Westchester County may be known for its real estate or the fabulous people that reside here, however this Tasting Tour & Picnic will bring all attendees to some of Westchester’s great restaurants. Start off the day with a delicious brunch at Tarry Lodge in Port Chester which features exquisite Italian trattoria dishes and an all-Italian wine selection while enjoying a waterside view. Crabtree’s Kittle House in Chappaqua may have just about every kind of wine. With a cellar that holds about 65,000 bottles and a list of 6,000 wines that parties may choose from, there’s no wonder that this place is known for having one of the finest collections of wine in the world.
