Planet Aid Donates Winter Gear to Locals in Need
Milford, MA (PRWEB) January 30, 2015 -- Even with temperatures dropping and storms like “Snowmageddon” making their way through the East Coast, hundreds of people have been able to keep warm this winter thanks to Planet Aid.
In Massachusetts, New York, Ohio, and Pennsylvania, Planet Aid is donating hundreds of coats and cold-weather items to families in need.
In New England, the Massachusetts office has already donated 650 men’s, women’s, and children’s coats this winter. “With the arrival of winter we receive many requests for warm coats and jackets, and most of these requests come from food pantries and churches,” said Market Manager Jackson Fernandez.
The cold-weather gear goes to numerous charitable organizations in the area, including the Lazarus House, the Lowell Transitional Living Center, Shadows House, Friendly House, Rosie’s Place, Crittenton Hastings House, Community Actions Program Inter-City, the Worcester County Church of Christ, and the St. Vincent De Paul Mission of Bristol.
In upstate New York, Planet Aid donated coats to more than 240 men, women, and children in need during an event on January 10 in partnership with the IBERO Bry Mentoring Program and the United Way Latino Leadership Development class of 2014.
The Planet Aid team in Northern Ohio, which donated cold-weather items to The City Mission homeless shelter during last year’s polar vortex, will once again be dropping off items to benefit the organization.
The Planet Aid office in Philadelphia has also supported the homeless at the local CYWA Gateway Shelter and will continue to do so this winter. “We always look forward to our yearly push to donate coats for the winter and help out the communities that have people in need,” said Operations Manager David Bauer. “We will continue to assist in this way and other ways that will help the less fortunate.”
Planet Aid offices in Maryland, North Carolina, Missouri, Michigan, and Western Pennsylvania are planning to donate coats and jackets in their communities this year, as well.
Planet Aid is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to inform, mobilize, and inspire individuals and communities to work together to bring about worldwide environmental and social progress. It is incorporated under the laws of Massachusetts and recognized as a tax-exempt charity under IRS code 501(c)(3).
