In December, the Reyes Law Group represented the Light of the World Clinic, a free healthcare facility for Broward County’s indigent population, founded by the late Dr. Erwin Vasquez in 1989. The Clinic operates with only 3 paid staff and a cadre of more than 43 volunteer physicians in many areas of medical care. Because of the high unemployment and lack of insurance by so many families, the Clinic experienced more than a 20% increase of patients since last year. It became necessary to find a new space to meet the needs of the growing underserved families.
Attorney Carlos Reyes and his team of real estate professionals dedicated their time and talents to handling the legal representation from the initial contract purchase of the property to the due diligence, financing requirements and preparation of closing documents. “Without the assistance of the Reyes Law Group on this real estate endeavor, we would not have been able to expand our services to those in need,“ said Ricardo Reyes, M.D. Medical Director at the Clinic.
The new offices for Light of the World Clinic are located at 5333 N. Dixie Highway in Oakland Park, Florida. “A generous Neighborhood Excellence Grant provided by Bank of America allowed the Clinic Board to move forward and purchase this property,” said Elaine Vasquez, widow of the Clinic’s founder. “We are building my husband’s legacy and Reyes Law Group continues to help us achieve our mission by having a very significant impact on people's lives.” Carlos Reyes points out, “Our community has indigent individuals and non-profit organizations which are often unable to afford appropriate legal representation or assistance without lawyers willing to donate their time.
