Platform Technologies Announces FDA Registration to Permit Sale of Interroscan Full Body Scanner for Finding Items Concealed in Body Cavities
State College, PA (PRWEB) June 27, 2015 -- Platform Technologies Inc. (“PTI”), the leading supplier of nominal dose closed cabinet transmission x-ray full body scanners, has registered with the FDA to sell its Interroscan model within the US. PTI submitted safety and other Interroscan data documenting that the scanner is safe for general check point security screening use to find contraband hidden upon and within the human body.
In order to obtain FDA registration, PTI and partner International Radiation Safety Consulting (“IRSC”) had to demonstrate Interroscan was risk free and imposed no radiation safety issues. “Each scan is the equivalent of six minutes in an aircraft at 30,000 feet” states IRSC President Sean Chapel. “That level is below the TSA dose rates allowed for body scanners in airports.”
While entering the transportation security market is PTI”s long term goal, the initial focus is placing Interroscan in correctional facilities, local jails and intake facilities. According to Barry Johnson, Vice President Corrections Marketing “Interroscan is capable of finding drugs and other non metallic and metallic contraband concealed within clothing, prosthetics and body cavities – something existing scanners used in airports cannot do. It is a very useful tool to keep drugs, weapons and other contraband from being smuggled in via body cavities and endangering both inmates and officers alike. As a former corrections executive, I know there is a demonstrated need for this capability and it both acts as a deterrent and finds contraband if someone tries to bring it in.”
Interroscan has been successfully deployed at locations in Russia, including at the Sochi Winter Olympics. Images of ingested drugs and concealed weapons Interroscan has found are on PTI”s website at http://www.platformtek.com
