Play N Trade Inc. and the Woodstock Georgia Community Ban Together to Help Store Owner Troy Brazelton of Play N Trade
San Clemente, CA (PRWEB) November 26, 2013 -- On September 29, 2013, Troy Brazelton sustained very serious burn injuries during an armed robbery and arson at his family’s business. Brazelton was released from the hospital on October 10th and will still need more medical treatment, physical therapy, and help to rebuild his store. Play N Trade Inc. has been in contact with Mr. Brazelton from day one. Play N Trade has offered to help Mr. Brazelton any way they can, with the addition of sending out a support system to his location the next day after the robbery. A spokesperson from Play N Trade comments on the incident, “We are extremely saddened about the incident and have been assisting Troy with the tools he needs to get his store up and running. We are thankful that our distributors, corporate team, and Troy can work together to make sure Play N Trade-Woodstock’s customers are taken care of. We will be here every step of the way for Troy and wish him a speedy recovery.”
The Woodstock community also took notice and jumped into action by raising funds on Fundrazr.com. They raised funds through contacts through Facebook, the store staff held a bake sale, people brought games and posters to increase their inventory, and a local restaurant Donovan’s Irish Cobbler held a silent auction and fundraiser with direct donations and 100% of the proceeds going to Mr. Brazelton.
Tanner Smallwood, a shift manager at Play N Trade-Woodstock, said the store has already raised a good bit of money and they will continue to fundraise to help Troy with medical bills and other expenses. Smallwood said the store is damaged, but they are still operating. The store just regained the ability to take both card and cash payments. “The store is gutted, there is nothing in here as far as (old) inventory goes and what we actually have on sale. It is just whenever we get a new shipment, the shipments are still coming and we still have to sell these games,” Smallwood said. “We might not have any used games or used inventory like we used to, but we’re still set up with a system and we’ve got games for sale so people can still come up and get their pre-ordered games.”
With the next generation of consoles due to release this month it was imperative for Play n Trade-Woodstock to be up and running in some capacity. It is amazing that the store was partially opened a week after the robbery and it is a testament to the Woodstock community and Play N Trade employees that worked hard to support Mr. Brazelton through this difficult experience.
