PLS 3rd Learning’s Steve Barkley a Featured Professional Development Presenter at 2013 SREB Conference
Buffalo, NY (PRWEB) July 18, 2013 -- PLS 3rd Learning’s noted Professional Development coach and education author Steve Barkley has been chosen as a featured presenter for the 2013 Southern Regional Education Board Summer (SREB) Conference. This gathering of state, district, school and teacher leaders will be held at the Charlotte Convention Center and The Westin Hotel, Charlotte, North Carolina, from July 17 – 20, 2013.
Barkley will present “Planning With the End in Mind,” a skill-based presentation combining education theory with practical applications on Thursday, July 18 at 8 a.m. At 2:15 p.m., Barkley will follow with his popular presentation, “Responding to Resistance.”
This presentation will address the fact that as leaders, we at times are facilitating among disagreement. Individual negative comments can derail a group or stop conversations from moving to a solution. Barkley will help identify common sources of resistance and alternative verbal skills to respond while keeping the dialogue going.
Barkley will also present “Creating a Coaching Culture: Leadership’s Role.” on Friday, July 19 at 8 a.m. Later that afternoon, he will lead “Leading and Learning With Questions” at 1 p.m. which will discuss how effective leaders ask much more than they tell. Barkley will show whether facilitating groups or guiding individual staff, student, or parent conferences, the right question can guide critical and creative thinking.
