PMWC International Shares Vision for Upcoming Personalized Medicine World Conference; Welcomes UCSF as Co-Host Alongside Stanford Health Care and Oracle Health Sciences
Mountain View and San Francisco, Calif. (PRWEB) December 27, 2015 -- The Personalized Medicine World Conference, PMWC 2016, will bring together nearly 1,100 key-opinion leaders and stakeholders in the personalized medicine field on January 24-27, 2016 in Silicon Valley.
Co-hosted by Stanford Health Care, University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), Oracle Health Sciences, and PMC, the Conference fosters the exchange of ideas and dissemination of information for researchers, clinicians, providers, and government and biotech representatives.
“Personalized medicine has tremendous potential to revolutionize health, but it also faces a number of non-trivial challenges in technology, medicine and ethics,” said Atul Butte, MD, PhD, PMWC 2016 Silicon Valley’s Program Chair and Director of UCSF’s Institute for Computational Health Sciences. “This conference aims to bring together experts from multiple backgrounds to explore these developments and challenges in a collegial setting, network with other leaders in the field, and forge the collaborations that will be required to make this a reality.”
Participants at the four-day program will focus on next-generation sequencing and its clinical utilization, immunotherapy, biomarker discovery, liquid biopsy, research on longevity and aging, the regulatory landscape and the commercial opportunities of personalized medicine. During the Conference, PMWC will honor four visionaries -- Drs. Laura Esserman, Roger Perlmutter, Ralph Snyderman, and Irv Weissman -- whose work in the field of personalized medicine has led to major advances and breakthroughs.
Among the opportunities and challenges that will be addressed at the Conference are the explosion of information being produced by sequencing and other data sources; the innovation in computational and data management capabilities that is needed to translate these data into clinical relevance; the increasing complexity of clinical trial design and drug development; and the increased pressure to justify clear clinical value to both payers and patients.
This year, UCSF will join long-time co-hosts Stanford Health Care, Oracle Health Sciences, and PMC.
Original co-host Stanford Health Care CEO Amir Dan Rubin also commented, “PMWC provides an outstanding opportunity to review the latest developments in personalized medicine and to help Stanford advance its vision of healing humanity, through science and compassion, one patient at a time."
