Point Media Goes for Gold and Wins
Los Angeles, California (PRWEB) January 31, 2014 -- Point Media, LLC – a firm specializing in digital storytelling and broadcast media solutions has won the Gold LACP Spotlight Award. The LACP – League of American Communications Professionals – Spotlight Awards are the world’s largest Global Communications Competition, honoring outstanding work in print, video and web-based communications materials from the Public Relations and Communications professions. From Citigroup to General Electric, companies large and small compete against their peers to earn recognition for their organization’s achievements.
Point Media and their client Assurance Wireless (from Virgin Mobile USA) won a Gold Award of Excellence for the development of the Assurance Wireless Video Case Study. Point Media and Assurance Wireless also went on to win recognition for developing one of the Top 100 Communications Materials of 2013.
Assurance Wireless is a federal Lifeline Assistance program brought to the public by Virgin Mobile USA. Lifeline is a government benefit program supported by the federal Universal Fund. Qualification is based on federal or state-specific eligibility criteria such as household income or participation in certain public assistance programs like MEDICAID or SNAP. Assurance Wireless provides a valuable service for those who are unemployed or underemployed and who need to maintain communication with family and community members, school services, doctors and more.
Point Media was tasked with creating a compelling video that would tell the story of Assurance Wireless and its impact on those who benefit from the service. They chose to highlight a success story, that of Assurance Wireless customer Evan Mensch, who was able to find a job and improve his economic situation as a result of having an Assurance Wireless phone. The video features Evan telling his personal story of struggle and how important it was to be able to stay connected with potential employers during his job search. Without the free phone from Assurance Wireless, he wouldn’t haven’t been able to respond to interview requests and connect with potential employers. When Mensch ultimately found employment, he credited Assurance Wireless with being instrumental to his success.
Stacie Hunt, partner at Point Media, worked exclusively with the team at Assurance Wireless to produce the video. “Evan’s story is so compelling in that it shows how something as simple as having a phone, having a reliable way to communicate when you’re struggling financially, can make such a difference. Telling his story was the best way for us to show the impact Assurance Wireless could have.”
The LACP judges agreed. The video scored a 98 out of a possible 100 points and was judged on its First Impression, Overall Narrative, Visual Design, Creativity, Message Clarity and Perceived Relevance. Comments on the video from the judges included “Excellent messaging to the target audience.” “Noteworthy among the entries.” “A very engaging entry,” and “Job well done.” The LACP Managing Director had this to say: “This entry…proves to be remarkable in light of tremendous competition…approximately 1,500 entries were received from a dozen countries and 300 entities. Overall we find this work to be outstanding. Our belief is that the target audience will find the level of relevance and clarity to be exceptional…demonstrating the success of this project in connecting with the right people and delivering a highly applicable and persuasive message.”
“We’re extremely proud of the work we’ve done with Assurance Wireless,” says Maya Burghardt, partner at Point Media. “From the program’s initial national rollout to where it is today, it’s been incredible to work on a campaign that has made this kind of impression. Evan’s success story makes it all worth it, and being recognized for our part in telling his story is deeply gratifying.”
