Police Adopt The Blast Gauge System after the International Breachers Symposium
Lakeland, FL (PRWEB) December 19, 2013 -- The International Breachers Symposium took place in Lakeland, FL during the third week of October. Hosted by Tactical Energetic Entry Systems (TEES) in conjunction with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, the Symposium presented a unique opportunity for hundreds of spectators to see the Blast Gauge System used in live explosive breaching.
The Blast Gauge System records operator’s exposure to blast overpressure, guiding triage and treatment as a result of these concussive forces. It’s already in use in every branch of the US Armed Forces, as well as internationally, and is now being recognized by Law Enforcement markets as a valuable tool to ensure operator safety.
“This equipment is the first affordable equipment that measures blast pressures which would be used for explosive breaching,” says Lieutenant Gary Sammons from Manatee County Sheriff’s Office in his requisition request. “This will allow us to keep track of the pressure waves reflecting off of structures that can be documented during all training and actual explosive breaching. At the present time we are relying on formulas that do not consider blast pressures that reflect [off surfaces]. This equipment will help solve that problem.”
Following the show, BlackBox Biometrics enjoyed an influx of new customers from Law Enforcement agencies across the globe.
“The product itself is very useful to the Law Enforcement community, especially to SWAT and EOD. Since my years of going through TEES explosive schools, understanding overpressure is vital in our jobs and vital in our safety. Keeping [blast] overpressure to the bare minimum is essential. By using these gauges it will give operators, especially medic operators, a better view of what each operator has come into contact with… Overall the product has a great use in our field and should be considered amongst active programs.” States Andrew C. Brashear from the Sangamon County Sheriff's Office’s Tactical Response Unit after using the Blast Gauge System.
