Police Departments Across Lancaster County, Pa Migrate To Public Safety Software From CODY Systems
POTTSTOWN, Pa., Jan. 30, 2018 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- CODY Systems announces rapid growth of its customer portfolio in Pennsylvania as the 10th agency in Lancaster County, PA signs a contract to implement a public-safety software suite from the PA-based company.
East Hempfield Township, West Hempfield Township, West Lampeter Township, New Holland Borough, Manor Township, Manheim Township, and Manheim Borough Police Departments have signed all contracts with CODY during the 4th quarter of 2017 alone, joining the three existing CODY customers in the county, including Lancaster City Police Department as well as East Lampeter Township Police Department and the Lancaster County Detectives.
Chief Brian Wiczkowski of West Lampeter Township notes both the user-friendly software and CODY's reputation as a solid PA company as contributing factors to his department's decision to purchase CODY RMS: "While I was working with the Lancaster City Police Department, we did extensive research on a records management system to replace our in-house system," said Chief Wiczkowski. "This research gave me a great education on both the CODY software and the company as a whole. After being hired as Chief of Police by West Lampeter Township in August of 2014, I began my own search for a comprehensive RMS to replace the system we were using here. I was very familiar with CODY RMS from my time in Lancaster City and was confident in its ability to serve us well. Plus, our county purchased their COBRA.net data-sharing system so I knew their footprint was growing in Lancaster County. CODY's user-friendly feature set, coupled with the company's reputation in PA as a stable, reliable company with great customer support made purchasing their RMS solution a no-brainer."
Many agencies in Lancaster County that had been using the county's legacy countywide RMS system were looking to upgrade their RMS, but did not want to lose access to the data stored in their legacy RMS. CODY's total solution offered agencies a seamless transition from the legacy county RMS that included a low-cost option to convert and migrate their legacy RMS data to bring vital, historical data into the new CODY system at the time of go-live.
"My department was looking to migrate away from the countywide RMS last year," commented Chief Stephen Skiles of East Hempfield Township Police Department. "After reviewing our options, we determined that the CODY Systems' solution was the most comprehensive, providing the full RMS with built-in reporting tools, data conversion services to bring our legacy RMS data into our new system, and some key interfaces to systems we use every day, like PA TraCS.Plus, being able to take advantage of the SaaS pricing model saved my department the large upfront cost and allows us to budget for the software on an annual basis."
Several key interfaces CODY provides have added to the overall value of the solution for agencies in Lancaster County, including an interface to the county CAD system as well as interfaces to the BEAST evidence management system, and to the PA TraCS Citations, Warnings, and Crash Reporting system.
All of these agencies are also participating – along with other agencies across the county - in Lancaster County's COBRA.net data-sharing system, whether they are CODY RMS customers, using the countywide RMS, or another vendor' RMS. COBRA.net shares full police records data in real-time across all the agencies in the county for investigators as well as officers on the street. The next evolution of this project will be to add the Lancaster COBRA.net to the PA SuperCOBRA project – a linking of all COBRA.net nodes to create a one-stop search of records management data across the state – over 45 million records from across 12 counties and 180 agencies.
