Popular Underground Writer Calls For “Economic Hiccup” General Strike
Los Angeles, California (PRWEB) January 11, 2016 -- Saturday evening last, Lee Dodson, author of underground hit book, Infiltration, posted a call for a general strike, also termed An Economic Hiccup, on his book’s Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/Infiltrationsubpage/ and under his Twitter account: @skshtgr11 with the hashtag #NoHeCant.
The “strike” request closely resembles a boycott, but in fact, it is merely a “do not spend” on Thursdays idea. It takes no funding from the economy, it suggests only pre-payment on Wednesdays, or a delay of financial transactions to Fridays. Thursday was selected because most paychecks happen on Friday. The effect of the strike is intended to be an easy form of non-violent, non-confrontational means of public expression.
The project requires no funding as it was born on social media. The author compared it to the strategy used by ISIS. “The ballgame is not theirs anymore. We’re better at it, more effective, because we are free to choose. They’re not. If this is effective, it could go global. Imagine that.”
When asked to elaborate on the plan Dodson explained, “Nobody believes government listens. Many think the country is headed in the wrong direction, that freedoms are being abridged by unelected bureaucrats, that normal business is overburdened by regulation, and that they are continually led astray by everyone from the administration down. Citizens are not happy, and this is an easy, convenient way to express that displeasure.”
The writer added, “The authorities may dismiss one day of hiccup as a glitch. Two days of hiccups, they take notice. Three days of spasms, it becomes real in their minds. By the fourth day, they start to ask what’s going on. Hiccups can become very annoying, and that’s the gist of the project…to make the power pay attention.”
When asked about emergency spending or items like carfare, Dodson added that there was no need to forego necessary expense spending. “People are expected to use their heads because it’s their money being withheld by them. This whole idea is voluntary…which is why it has so much power. We are free to join this action, or not.”
“Our money is our money, and we’d like for the government to recognize that again, to be our stewards, not our masters,” Dodson concluded. “We’re voting with our pocketbooks, coin purses.”
The writer will appear on national radio shows over the next few days to promote the project.
The project begins 12:01a/m Thursday, January 14, runs to 12:59 p/m and repeats every Thursday for four weeks, maybe.
