Port of Hueneme Recognized with Community Award
Port of Hueneme, CA (PRWEB) January 30, 2014 -- In keeping with tradition, 2013 Chair of the Oxnard Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Nancy Kierstyn Schreiner, announced her list of “Chair Awards of Excellence” recipients. Winning for the Business of the Year was the Port of Hueneme. The award was presented at the January 25th Installation Gala.
In announcing her selection of the Port of Hueneme for Business of the year, the outgoing Chamber Chair said, “The Port provides well over 5,000 direct and indirect jobs in our community. In addition, another nearly 4,000 jobs regionally are influenced by or related to activities at The Port. The Port generated $7 billion in goods movement and $1 billion in other economic activity in 2013. I want to congratulate the Port on another record year.”
Mary Anne Rooney, President of the Board of Harbor Commissioners said about receiving the Award, “We are thankful for our strong relationship with the Oxnard Chamber of Commerce and appreciate this honor. As the Port looks forward, we strive to continue to strengthen and build upon our strong relationships with our customers, the Business community of Oxnard and Port Hueneme, Naval Base Ventura County, the County, the Ventura County Transportation Commission, and the Board of Supervisors. We will continue to put our breadth of resources to work to assist the business community in increasing opportunities that exist through our unique organization.”
