Portee Insurance’s Ongoing Community Program Collaborates with Teacher to Introduce a New Charity Campaign in Silver Spring, MD, to Help Kids with Autism
Silver Spring, MD (PRWEB) October 23, 2015 -- Portee Insurance Agency debuts the newest charity campaign in its recognized Community Program in the greater Silver Spring area by announcing their intent to raise funds for Miss Torres’ students at Arcola Elementary School. In great need of an iPad for her class, donations are being accepted through the campaign’s page at http://www.donorschoose.org/project/bring-clarity-and-excitement-to-kids-wit/1704191/.
Miss Torres is dedicated to meeting the needs of her kindergarten and first grade students, who have been diagnosed with Autism. The families and the school in this area have been highly impacted by poverty. Therefore, Miss Torres does not have her own classroom, but finds quiet places all over the school in which to engage the children. Creative ways to teach and explain crucial concepts must be employed, and Miss Torres is hoping to raise enough money to purchase an iPad for these amazing students, who are so eager to learn. A portable iPad would allow them access to endless educational games and learning opportunities.
“Neighbors helping neighbors is what we’re all about here,” said Ralph Portee, the agency’s principal. “Making our community better and stronger is our ultimate goal, and getting these wonderful children the resources they need to learn should motivate us all. We can make a brighter future for these kids if we all work together.”
Through the agency’s vast network of customers, business partners, staff, friends and family, Portee Insurance hopes that the initiative to spread the word about Miss Torres’ class will bring awareness to the challenges faced by her and her students. The campaign will be promoted over the course of the next 30-90 days through the agency’s social media channels, email and text message communications, as well as through their monthly magazine, which is delivered to thousands of households in the greater Silver Spring area. Our Hometown magazine reserves a full page to feature all the details of the campaign. The electronic Flipbook version of the current issue may be accessed here: http://www.porteeinsurance.com/Our-Hometown-Magazine_41.
