Portfolium & San Jose State Partner to Get Students Hired
San Diego, CA (PRWEB) February 02, 2016 -- Portfolium.com, the ePortfolio network that helps students connect learning with opportunity, has announced a campus-wide rollout to San Jose State University (SJSU). All 33,000+ SJSU students and 101,000+ alumni have free access to ePortfolios which go beyond the resume to showcase students’ in-class and extracurricular work samples, including evidence of job-related skills. Employers will have direct access to these ePortfolios.
“We are excited to launch the Portfolium platform on campus as a way in which our students and alumni can showcase their diverse accomplishments and skill sets to employers. We know that employers want to see evidence of specific skills and competencies beyond listing tasks on a resume. We believe that Portfolium will enable students to develop a well rounded brand that demonstrates the results of their entire academic journey--which includes their work inside and outside of the classroom. Our goal is to enable students to not only demonstrate career readiness but also easily connect with employers seeking their talents to fulfill employment needs.” said Romando Nash, Associate Vice President of Student Affairs at SJSU.
San Jose State University (SJSU) has worked on a number of high-tech initiatives related to career readiness, including a recent partnership with LinkedIn. SJSU’s partnership with Portfolium is meant to offer students an even deeper and broader array of tools to help prepare them for their journey into the workforce.
To make matching students discoverable, Portfolium has also launched a premium search engine for college recruiters and hiring managers. Within the first two weeks of SJSU’s campus launch, students have added a total of 571,000 unique data points including over 70,000 skills, all of which are indexed by Portfolium’s recruiting search engine.
“We’re thrilled to help drive career success for SJSU’s students. The bay area in particular is ripe with job opportunity, but Silicon Valley and San Francisco-based startups still thirst for more qualified talent. I can’t imagine a better tool for bay area companies looking to identify and compete for the best new grads,” said Adam Markowitz, Founder and CEO of Portfolium.
San Jose State’s rollout of Portfolium is part of a larger 3 year agreement that Portfolium has reached with the California State University System - an agreement that extends ePortfolios to all 23 CSU campuses, 475,000 students, and 3.2 million alumni.
