Portland Fit Body Boot Camp Invites Public to Fitness Boot Camp Session Benefiting Children’s Cancer Association
Portand, OR (PRWEB) July 11, 2014 -- Emily Johnson, owner of the Portland Fit Body Boot Camp, has already had a great summer. Her fitness boot camp has held two charity workout events and is about to hold its third and final event on Saturday, July 26th, from 7:15 - 8:30 at Col Summers City Park, SE 20th and Belmont, Portland, Oregon 97214.
Their first charity boot camp session raised $510 for Medical Teams International. Their second workout event resulted in a $500 donation to the non-profit I Have a Dream. On July 26th, Johnson and Portland Fit Body Boot Camp hope to raise $1000 for Children’s Cancer Association.
“What we’ve been doing is offering one great boot camp workout in the beautiful outdoors,” says Johnson. “There’s no charge, just a suggested donation of between five and fifty dollars. In addition, everyone who donates $10 or more is entered into a drawing to win a month of boot camp training.”
For those not familiar with boot camp-style workouts, they generally last 30 minutes and utilize a combination of high-intensity interval training for fat loss and functional resistance moves for strength and muscle building.
This style of workout is increasingly popular, as it appeals to people who don’t have much time yet are looking for significant change in their bodies and their health.
Johnson’s own search for results and desire for change are what led her to a healthier lifestyle and a career as a personal trainer. “In 2006, I was living in Spain and I was gaining weight and trying a lot of things that weren’t working,” she says. “I joined a body transformation contest just to have that extra motivation and accountability and I actually ended up winning! After that, everything changed. I really developed a serious desire to help people who were stuck in the same situation I was in.”
That passion to help also extends to local non-profits and other needs in the Portland area and Johnson is excited about the success of this summer’s charity events and the prospect of raising even more money for Children’s Cancer Association.
“I’d really like to double what we were able to give Medical Teams International and I Have a Dream Oregon,” she says. “It would be amazing to hand over a check for $1000 to fight childhood cancers.”
