Potter-Tioga Maple Producers Association to Celebrate 10th Annual Maple Weekend in March
Wellsboro, PA (PRWEB) January 29, 2014 -- March heralds the arrival of spring to the northern tier of Pennsylvania and the tapping of trees for maple season. The Potter Tioga Maple Producers Association will be celebrating the 10th Anniversary of Maple Weekend March 22 & 23, a “traveling festival” which features maple producers, maple products and everything in between. Here’s a list of what to expect in Tioga County during the celebration:
• Visit the largest producer in the state—Patterson Maple Farms in Sabinsville—to learn how maple products were first discovered and how maple products are produced today. Stop by the gift show at Patterson's for maple syrup, maple cream, maple barbecue sauce and much more.
• Did you know that maple products can be made organically? Brookfield Maple Products, located in Westfield, will offer demonstrations and show visitors the equipment used in the organic process. Purchase maple candies, maple syrup and many other USDA Certified Organic products treats in the onsite shop.
• Interested in learning more about producing maple products? Don't miss the backyard producer operations at Hills Creek State Park, where visitors may be surprised to learn that it takes 40 gallons of sap to make one gallon of maple syrup. Step inside the sugar shack to uncover more facts about maple and learn how to start producing at home.
Festivities for both days start at 10 A.M. and end at 4 P.M. In addition to maple producer site visits, there are pancake breakfasts at designated areas throughout Tioga and Potter Counties. To find out more about these weekend festivities, visit http://www.pamaple.com or stop in at the Tioga County Visitors Bureau (2053 Route 660, Wellsboro, PA 16901) to pick up your map Monday through Friday from 9 A.M. to 4:30 P.M.
