Powerful Americans come out to support “Under the Influence”, a hard hitting documentary launching on Indiegogo
Los Angeles, California (PRWEB) July 14, 2015 -- Sam Oliver, Terry Bennett and Jennifer Cusentino announce the launch of their Indiegogo Crowdfunding Campaign for “Under the Influence,” a powerful documentary they’re making that explores the catastrophic effects corporate greed is having on America, and how “we the people” can collectively rectify it.
The filmmakers already have a league of powerful Americans supporting their film, including Mark Ruffalo, Noam Chomsky, Daryl Hannah, Marianne Williamson, Van Jones, Ralph Nader, Josh Fox, Frances Fisher, Bill McKibben, Paul Hawken, Tim Molina of Courage Campaign, Cenk Uygur of Wolf-Pac, Josh Silver of Represent.us, Ben Cohen of Stamp Stampede, David Cobb of Move To Amend and many more besides. Music legend and political activist, Neil Young, is lending his song, ‘Who’s Gonna Stand Up?” to the filmmakers to show his continued support for their documentary. Micah Nelson, son of country music icon Willie Nelson, has a band called “Insects VS Robots” and they have contributed a song to the film and are currently working on a music video to accompany the song. The filmmakers are also in talks to add music from “Aloe Blacc” and “Chuck D” to the soundtrack.
“We are a grassroots group of concerned Americans making a film about an issue that we are all extremely passionate about,” reveals director, Sam Oliver. “If you care about the environment, the food we eat, our healthcare or any other important American crisis, it all comes back to corporate bribery in Washington. We’ve exhausted our own funds and have relied heavily on friends and volunteers to get us here. Now we’re reaching out to other concerned Americans with our Indiegogo Campaign, asking for their support because we feel it’s vital that this film air before the 2016 Primaries.”
In exchange for donations, the filmmakers are offering terrific perks, which they hope will inspire donors to get involved with the Crowdfunding raise, but more importantly, the issue. Terry Bennett, Co-director of the film explains, “We’re asking the question, ‘Why are politicians not working for the people and instead for the corporate agenda?’ Corporate greed and bribery is literally crippling this country, we’re asking for support on this documentary, if not for us, then for yourselves – because this is your documentary too”.
Producer, Jennifer Cusentino agrees with Oliver and Bennett; “We’ve got compelling footage from powerful Americans, all of whom care deeply about returning our democracy to the people, and who fear greatly that if we don’t stand up now to end this bribery and corruption in our capital, it might be too late.”
The filmmakers are requesting that anyone who is passionate about taking the money out of politics take an interest in this campaign and in their film. It’s a film made, truly, by the people, for the people and for Americans who really want to make an impact. For really committed donors, the producers are offering producer credits on the film so their names can be forever associated with a film of great impact.
