Folsom, California (PRWEB) July 14, 2016 -- PowerSchool teams up with Georgia’s Dawson County School District to implement Special Education Case Management services and an online registration solution. PowerSchool Registration is expected to improve efficiency and offer convenience for families of new and returning students to the district. PowerSchool Special Education will provide Dawson County educators with case management tools to help deliver individualized instruction for students with special needs, closing the achievement gap and improving academic success for all students.
PowerSchool Special Education will replace the district’s previous solution, providing a more efficient way to manage Individualized Education Plans (IEP) and 504 plans. “Our previous solution required a lot of importing and exporting of data that ultimately took time away from instruction,” said Executive Director of Technology, Roman Gaddis of Dawson County School District.
Gaddis adds, “The IEP component of the solution allows us to develop and manage plans that ensure specialized instruction is given to students with specific learning and behavioral needs. The ability to create 504 plans for our students with specific disabilities helps us provide appropriate accommodations to facilitate their academic success.”
The PowerSchool platform offers innovative K-12 education tools for the digital classroom to empower teachers and drive student growth. In addition to Special Education and Registration, PowerSchool includes a Student Information System (SIS), Learning Management System and classroom collaboration, Assessment, and Analytics.
“We use PowerSchool for our SIS and by adding the online solutions for Registration and Special Education Case Management, we’re providing our school staff and teachers with one intuitive platform to manage a variety of processes,” said Gaddis. “A key element of success in the classroom is providing educators with innovative tools to accommodate students with diverse abilities. Partnering with PowerSchool allows us to focus on instruction to help all of our students excel.”
Dawson County School District has a parent advisory council and the number one request from families was less paperwork to enroll and register students for school. “Launching PowerSchool Registration eliminates a very paper-intensive process for both our families and our school staff. This new solution will help ensure accuracy of student data and help us capture vital information before the start of the school year,” notes Gaddis.
The electronic format within the registration solution allows families who have more than one child in the district to ‘snap’ data from one student to another. SmartForm™ technology, an intuitive tool built into the solution, collects relevant data based on previously entered information or choices (grade, activities, medical history, etc.). The data submitted by families is reviewed, polished, and formatted to meet district policies and then delivered into the SIS, resulting in accurate and up-to-date records on the first day of school.
The flexibility within PowerSchool Registration permits Dawson County School District to include questions in their online form. Identifying which families have broadband connectivity at home will help staff determine what type of devices they’ll need to provide students as the district transitions to personalized learning via mobile devices.
