Practical Applications’ Solvent Dispensing System Selected by Global Pharmaceutical Company
Boston, MA (PRWEB) July 19, 2013 -- Only Closed Loop System Permitted for Use in Massachusetts
PAI has developed the only closed loop dispensing system approved for use in Massachusetts, providing companies with improved flexibility for their chemistry laboratories. Installing PAI's solvent dispensing system will allow companies to better utilize their lab space, reprogramming unused square footage for chemistry, and freeing up space previously used for reagent and waste storage.
Lower Cost, Improved Safety, and Reduced Waste Storage
Compared to traditional solvent dispensing methods, Practical Applications’ proprietary system delivers improved safety and reduced waste storage at a lower cost. Traditional laboratory methods not only limit solvent quantities that can be stored at the bench, but also have limited run cycles, low productivity, and require frequent bottle changes. In addition, traditional practice has led to personnel safety and fire hazard concerns, in particular due to the use of flammable solvents.
PAI’s solvent dispensing system has been designed to address these concerns and improve operations. The system continuously delivers solvents from a storage unit located in a fire safe room, dispensing it to equipment in the laboratory space. The lab space can be located above the first floor, where regulated solvent volumes are limited. This flexibility in designing and utilizing lab space allows for substantial cost savings. PAI’s system runs with low volume reservoirs, which regulate flow via spigots similar to other bench top reagents (i.e., argon and reagent water).
The PAI Solvent Dispensing System also significantly reduces waste storage on the laboratory floor, an important consideration, as Waste Solvents are counted in National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) storage limits. PAI’s system carefully monitors the levels of flammable solvents and waste flammable solvents with automatic under bench waste transfer stations, which continuously transport waste solvents to a central storage tank located in a fire safe room. All systems built by Practical Applications meet or exceed NFPA 30 and NFPA 45 guidelines and can dispense Class I-A, Class I-B, and Class I-C flammable solvents for laboratory research.
