PreDiabetes Centers Offers Workplace Diabetes Screening at Local School
Austin, Texas (PRWEB) November 28, 2014 -- PreDiabetes Centers, a national provider of prediabetes testing and treatment, helped employees learn their risk for type 2 diabetes by offering complimentary on-site diabetes blood screening at a local school in partnership with the American Diabetes Association’s Stop Diabetes @ Work initiative.
As the Presenting Sponsor for the Stop Diabetes @ Work program, PreDiabetes Centers is co-hosting diabetes-prevention presentations at Austin-area companies with the ADA. At these events, PreDiabetes Centers Medical Director Alan Hopkins, MD, speaks to employees about risk factors for diabetes and the importance of diabetes screening.
To make learning about individual diabetes risk even easier and more convenient, PreDiabetes Centers was proud to offer on-site diabetes blood screening to educators at Clifton Career Development School, an Austin-based school that provides students with disabilities quality instruction in career and technical education, including education in the areas of agriculture mechanics, career preparation, culinary arts, child care, horticulture and hospitality.
PreDiabetes Centers’ cutting-edge diabetes blood screening measures biomarkers–or chemicals and proteins in the blood–that can indicate a prediabetic or diabetic state. The test examines fasting blood glucose, hemoglobin A1c, C-reactive protein, insulin, thyroid hormones, testosterone, vitamin B12, and lipid levels.
For employees who have prediabetes or early-stage diabetes, PreDiabetes Centers can offer customized treatment plans that can stop the onset of diabetes. The 12-month treatment program uses traditional medicine, health coaching, nutritional supplementation, an advanced dietary plan, guided fitness, sleep and stress therapies, and more.
PreDiabetes Centers is proud to partner with the American Diabetes Association (ADA) in the Stop Diabetes @ Work program, an initiative that promotes diabetes awareness, detection, prevention, and successful management of diabetes.
"We hope our partnership with the ADA will empower employees to get screened for diabetes,” says Dr. Hopkins. “With early detection and treatment, we can stop the diabetes epidemic, one person at a time.”
People who are interested in learning their risk for diabetes can take the online Diabetes Risk Survey and schedule a free consultation with a prediabetes physician.
