Prescott Valley’s Newest Community Businesswoman Dr. Clarisa I. Smith Launches Yavapai Pediatrics: Cultivating Healthy Lives
Prescott Valley, AZ (PRWEB) July 26, 2013 -- Yavapai Pediatrics is an exciting new medical practice located in the heart of Prescott Valley in the Prescott Valley Entertainment Center. Scheduled to open in August, Yavapai Pediatrics offers patients precise, punctual, care with an emphasis on prevention. Founder Dr. Smith and her staff coach parents about cultivating and maintaining good health; but also understand a parent’s concern when their child is not well. They provide pediatric care in a warm, inviting (and happy) environment, where a child will feel safe and comfortable.
When asked about her philosophy and approach to pediatric care, Dr. Smith replied, “Being a wife and the mother of two, I really understand how quickly a day slips by. That’s one of the reasons why offering my patients timely appointments with shorter wait times is an efficiency that we strive to deliver. We know that the sooner our patients feel better, their parents feel better!”
Yavapai Pediatrics offers a broad range of services to patients; some of their services include the all-important prenatal visit for expectant parents, well-child and sports physicals, under-the-weather and same-day visits, immunization and flu shots, hearing and vision screening, weight management and pediatric behavioral concerns. Some onsite labs include Strep Testing, hemoglobin and lead. Dr. Smith also serves as an on-staff physician at Yavapai Regional Medical Center.
Another unique characteristic of Yavapai Pediatrics is their community involvement which will include participation in special events, school and church camps, and a contribution to the national Reach out and Read Program. Reach out and Read serves 3.9 million children per year through thousands of doctors and nurses promoting early literacy and school readiness to young children and their families in all 50 states. Each year, medical providers at the nearly 5,000 Reach Out and Read program sites nationwide distribute 6.5 million books to children and invaluable literacy advice to parents. Yavapai Pediatrics is currently applying to establish a Prescott Valley branch and the staff are excited about promoting this important organization and helping to move Reach out and Read mission forward.

About Clarisa I. Smith, MD
Dr. Smith has been practicing medicine since 2004. She received her Bachelor of Science in Molecular and Cellular Biology at the University of Arizona , Tucson, AZ. In 2004 she received a Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine, in Iowa City, Iowa and returned to Tucson to complete her residency at the University of Arizona Health Science Center. She is also a diplomat of the American Board of Pediatrics and also serves in a leadership role as Fellow, for the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Dr. Smith honorably served in the United States Air Force from 2007 thru 2011 as an active duty Pediatrician. She received a number of venerable awards such as Meritorious Service Award Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, National Defense Service Medal, and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.
In her free time, Dr. Smith can be found enjoying outdoor activities with her husband Jason and children Iliana and Jase. The family enjoys hiking, off-road adventures, camping and anything to do with taking in beautiful high country scenery.
Dr. Smith is a proud member of the Prescott Valley Chamber of Commerce and a ribbon-cutting/grand opening open house will be held on Thursday, September 19 at 9am.
