SAN FRANCISCO, CA (PRWEB) July 13, 2016 -- PresenceLearning, the leading provider of live, online special education related services, today announced its nationwide team of clinical professionals has performed more than 3,300 assessments for students with special needs across the United States during the most recent academic year. All online assessments are administered live via secure, interactive video, and nearly 10% of these assessments were conducted for students with bilingual needs.
Districts use PresenceLearning to conduct special education and related service evaluations to determine which services and supports, if any, are needed to provide the student with a free appropriate public education. Teletherapy assessments help districts increase their efficiency, maintain federal compliance, and improve their ability to serve students with special needs.
“The online assessments conducted remotely by PresenceLearning clinicians are complete and detailed, and always include specific examples that clarify their findings,” said Catherine O., a Learning Specialist with the Jefferson County (CO) Virtual Learning Academy.
Adria M., a Master Teacher at a traditional K-6 elementary school in Colorado said, “Our students are comfortable doing assessments on the computer, and enjoy the virtual platform.”
PresenceLearning offers the most commonly-used assessments from various publishers, including the CELF-5 from Pearson and the CASL from WPS. Using the same techniques and materials as on-site staff, PresenceLearning professionals conduct online assessments using a combination of standardized assessment tools; reviews of student work samples; clinical and behavioral observation via webcam; reviews of record; parent, teacher, and student interviews; and developmental and medical histories.
“Kids who struggle in school need and deserve prompt evaluations so they can have the best chance at success in life,” said Clay Whitehead, Co-founder and Co-CEO of PresenceLearning. “Students love working online and research has shown this mode of delivery can be very effective. For schools, which often struggle to deliver timely assessments, this is a big win.”
PresenceLearning currently offers a wide range of assessments in a variety of languages for speech-language, occupational therapy, and behavior and mental health, including: articulation; expressive and receptive language; fluency and pragmatics; fine motor, visual motor, and sensory integration; emotional disturbance; or other health impairment. Assessments for 504 eligibility, intervention planning, and pre-referral for at-risk students can also be performed by online clinicians. In addition, PresenceLearning plans to offer a complete range of psychoeducational assessments—including ability and achievement assessments—in the 2016-2017 school year.
