Prestwick Country Club Is Named One Of South Carolina's Top Golf Courses By The South Carolina Golf Course Rating Panel
Myrtle Beach, South Carolina (PRWEB) April 18, 2014 -- Prestwick Country Club in Myrtle Beach, S.C., has been named one of South Carolina's top golf courses by the S.C. Golf Course Rating Panel. A Pete and P.B. Dye design, Prestwick is one of only six courses to be added to the list of the state's 50 best layouts for 2014, joining other world-class courses including The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island and Harbour Town Golf Links in Hilton Head. The panel's “Top 50 Golf Courses For 2014” includes both private and public courses throughout the state.
“South Carolina is blessed to have many wonderful championship courses, so we feel very honored to be listed among the state's best,” said Prestwick Vice President David DuRant. “The Dyes designed a spectacular layout, and in 2012 we converted our greens to TifEagle bermuda which offers superior putting surfaces akin to bentgrass. We're extremely proud of the course and its conditioning, and appreciate this recognition by the panel.”
Composed of 125 golfers from diverse backgrounds and handicaps, the panel is charged with playing, assessing and rating championship golf courses in South Carolina, a state that boasts 360 such layouts. The panel's goal is to recognize and promote excellence in golf course design though education, public advocacy and competitive rankings.
Prestwick Country Club is designed to remind players of its Scottish namesake, Prestwick Golf Club. It features berms, deep pot bunkers and rolling greens. Golf Digest recognized it as "One of the Nation's Five Best-Kept Secret Golf Courses” and rates it at 4.5 stars out of 5. The S.C. Panel has ranked it as one of its “30 Best You Can Play In S.C.” which focuses exclusively on golf courses that are open to public play. At 7,086 yards from the back tees, with a rating of 74.7 and slope of 138, it can be a formidable test of golf for the game's best-skilled players, yet is an enjoyable test for golfers of all levels, offering many risk/reward options from all of its six sets of tees.
Prestwick Country Club is owned and operated by The Jackson Companies of Myrtle Beach, a family-owned enterprise that is no stranger to success. In addition to the award-winning Prestwick, The Jackson Companies is known for its Ocean Lakes Family Campground which has been named National “Park of the Year” in the Mega Park category by the National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds (ARVC) five times; it currently holds a perfect 10/10*/10 rating from the Good Sam RV Travel Guide & Campground Directory for overall operation, recreational offerings, services and appearance. Additional divisions of The Jackson Companies include Ocean Lakes Properties, Ocean Lakes RV Center, the master-planned development SayeBrook and Crystal Lake Mobile Home Village.
