PrimeWay CEO Encourages Women Leadership in Payments Industry at Recent Forum
Houston, TX (PRWEB) June 10, 2015 -- A long-time champion of women taking on leadership roles, Annette Zimmerman, president and CEO of the $447 million Houston-based PrimeWay Federal Credit Union, is once again encouraging women to step forward and lead – this time in the payments industry. At the recent Card Forum 2015: Women in Payments Leadership Exchange, Zimmerman lead lively discussions in a field she understands well.
The Women in Payments Leadership Exchange aims to help women get tips and firsthand knowledge about expanding leadership skills, building networks and advancing in the industry. The summit features some of the foremost women in card and payments, teaching and discussing the innovation and future of payments.
“The payments industry is at a critical juncture,” Zimmerman said. “We are seeing the first signs of technological disrupters in payments. It is exciting to be on the cusp of revolutionizing an industry because women are uniquely positioned to play an enormous leadership role should we choose to do so.”
The former Chief Technology Officer has truly become a forerunner in the discussion of innovation within the payments industry by investing in CU Wallet, participating in beta tests and now PrimeWay is scheduled be the first credit union in Houston to launch their own wallet.
“Women are not only responsible for making, or significantly influencing, an estimated 73 percent of financial decisions, but there are more women in technology fields than ever before,” explained Zimmerman. “From gadgets to games, many women love technology; combine that with our drive to make mundane tasks, like payments, go faster and smoother in order to manage our days, and now you have an incubator for a disrupting invention.”
In addition to being a CU Wallet Board member, Zimmerman is also the chair of two CUSO Boards (Member Home Loan & CU Alliance, LLC) and serves on the Corelation, Inc. Advisory Board. Active with NAFCU, Zimmerman passionately advocates for consumer protection issues such as cyber security standards.
Prior to her role with PrimeWay, she founded a very successful women in business group in Salt Lake City to support women leaders in building relationships with each other.
