Priority Energy Achieves Two LEED Gold Certification Awards for SmartTech Homes in Downtown Chicago
(PRWEB) October 31, 2013 -- Last month, Priority Energy and SmartTech® Homes were awarded two LEED Gold certificates for their achievement in unsurpassed green home building and design. A LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, certification guarantees that these two homes will save energy, water, resources and money at a rate 15% greater than the recently enforced IECC 2012 code requirements. By incorporating smart design, high performance products, efficiency testing and sustainable features these homes will be much healthier and cost 50% less to operate than most other new homes.
Working together from the initial design of the mechanical systems to the installation of Priority Energy’s high-performance products, their diagnostic testing and HERS rating services, Eco Development, the builders of SmartTech® Homes, and Priority Energy have created two superior homes that are guaranteed to live up to their LEED Gold status. The homes include cutting edge technology that includes EnviroDri’ s exterior air and water barrier, Aeroseal duct sealing, Intellihot’s tankless, on-demand water heater, a 98%+ efficient Lifebreath Heating and HRV ventilation system, and programmable thermostats.
Priority Energy has been the energy efficiency consultants to Eco Development for over two years. The two firms have built and certified over 70 Energy Star v2.5 and v3.0 rated homes together, with many more currently in progress throughout Chicago. “These two homes exemplify Eco Development’s commitment to protect the environment, improve the lives of their homes’ occupants and to maintain an attainable price point”, says Robert Schildgen, owner and CEO of Priority Energy, “our products and services help Eco Development meet their high standards and the high standards set by USGBC for LEED.”
