Pro Era Taps Hip Hop It Boy SMTH For First Annual Steez Day Festival
New York, NY (PRWEB) June 23, 2015 -- A different kind of concert is coming to Central Park’s SummerStage series this July. Famed hip hop collective Pro Era’s First Annual Steez Day Festival, an explosive string of live hip hop performances from a slew of talented young artists, is going to be a concert with heart - a unique and impactful event with all of the proceeds going to the family of the beloved cofounder of Pro Era, the late Capital Steez.
In addition to headliners Joey Badass, Flatbush Zombies, and the Underachievers, the lineup will read like a who’s who of the promising young artists of tomorrow. Among them is Brooklyn-born emcee SMTH, whose celebrated track “Last Straw”, a collaboration with Capital Steez, is the last song Steez recorded, just 5 days before his untimely death. The track appears on SMTH’s mixtape, “The SMTH Project”.
When Pro Era approached Capital Steez’s family about the event, they immediately turned to SMTH to be a part of it. “Steez was one of the best young rappers coming out of New York”, says SMTH, “I’m thankful to have worked with someone who cared about creating real hip hop as much as I do and to have the privilege of performing in his honor”. SMTH looks forward to sharing the stage with the Pro Era family as well as host Peter Rosenberg. “Rosenberg has a keen ear for music with substance which brings a powerful sense of credibility to the event in itself.”
Just like Capital Steez, SMTH has a love for his hometown and has created an anthem for it. SMTH’s newest track, the highly anticipated “Brooklyn 2.0” will be released the day of the concert and performed for the very first time on the Steez Day Festival stage. Opening with an invigorating and catchy hook, the love-at-first listen banger is destined to be a memorable summer anthem. The poignant lyricism in the verses that follow artfully exposes the beauty that can be hidden within the struggle, eloquently capturing a glimpse into SMTH’s story. Brooklyn 2.0 is masterfully written to bridge a variety of audiences, from the street corners to the mainstream, and is saturated with a deep love for both Brooklyn and for hip hop.
The first annual Steez Day Festival, hosted by Peter Rosenberg, will take place on Tuesday, July 7th at the Central Park SummerStage. For tickets visit http://www.ticketfly.com
