Pro-Vision Academy Track Team Wins First Overall at the TCSAAL State Meet
Houston, Texas (PRWEB) March 05, 2014 -- The 2014 season has been highly successful for the Pro-Vision Academy boy’s track team, culminating in a state championship last weekend. The Texas Charter School Academic & Athletic League (TCSAAL) State Meet was held on March 1, 2014 in Dripping Springs, TX. There were a total of 12 events for high school participants, of which the Pro-Vision Academy team placed in six.
1st Place finishers:
- 4x100 Relay: Keylen Lewis, Devin Thomas, Kevin Thomas, Clifford Maxey
- 4x200 Relay: Keylen Lewis, Darius House, Eric Clark, Isaiah Lee
- 4x400 Relay: Isaiah Lee, Deandre Tillman, Kelton Jackson, Kedrick King
2nd Place Finishers:
- Long Jump: Clifford Maxey
- Discus: Malcolm Tate
3rd Place Finishers
- 200 Meter Dash: Clifford Maxey
High School Participants (Team State Champions) for 2014 include:
Clifford Maxey, Devin Thomas, Kevin Thomas, Keylen Lewis, Malcolm Tate, Jonathain Jessie, Darius House, Eric Clark, Isaiah Lee, Kelton Jackson, Deandre Tillman, Kedrick King and Calvin Stewart.
There were also 11 events for middle school participants during the TCSAAL State Meet, and three Pro-Vision, Inc athletes qualified to compete:
- Marcus Lewis, 400 Meter and Shot Put
- Tommie White, 800 Meter, 400 Meter and 200 Meter Dash
- Kennon Robertson, 100 Meter Dash and 400 Meter
The coaches that provided leadership for the 2014 Pro-Vision Academy track teams are Coach Christopher Gillis, Coach Timothy Tate and Coach Michael West. The athletics programs at Pro-Vision Academy charter school are just one way that the organization meets their mission to instill hope and purpose in youth living in the greater Houston area so that they reach their full potential. The school’s holistic approach and sense of community provide students with opportunities to learn and grow outside of the classroom, whether that’s on the track, at the urban farm or in an art program.
