Prof. Syed Akheel Ahmed and Syed Sharief Khundnmiri, Co Authors, Praise Muslim Scientists in New Book
Burbank, Calif. (PRWEB) October 25, 2013 -- The influence of Muslim scientists echoes today in modern science and mathematics. In “Islam, Science & Renaissance: Their Impact on Universe and Society” (published by Trafford Publishing), Authors Prof. Ahmed and Khundniri arguably chronicle the many advances that Muslim scientists made, their influences from the Quran and the later effects they had on the European Renaissance.
“This is a treatise on the Islamic sciences and Muslim scientists who started exploring the universe and bringing mankind out from all darkness, which sowed the seeds of the European Renaissance,” writes Ahmed.
Split into two sections, “Islam, Science & Renaissance” makes a passionate argument for the many contributions to science that Islam has provided over hundreds of years. In the first part, Syed Sharief Khumdmiri analyzes the more than 200 verses from the Quran to introduce what he describes as the “Islamic renaissance.” The second part, written by Ahmed, illustrates the many positive impacts of Islamic sciences on present-day society.
An excerpt from the Review by DR. Syed Masood Hasan:
The purpose of this book is to promote Qur’anic teaching and to clarify misconceptions about Islam. Especially, in the aftermath of the tragic events of 9/11, 2001, the most popular image of Islam in the minds of many is that it is, to some extent, a religion of violence, fanaticism and terrorism. This negative image of Islam among American and European public is essentially due to their ignorance and hypocrisy. At a time when Islam is frequently misunderstood and often maligned, this sensitive and insightful book comes as a ray of sunshine.
The authors have devised a theme to interpret certain Qur’anic verses whose exact meaning could not possibly have been grasped. This implies that a thorough linguistic knowledge is really needed to understand these verses of the Qur’an. Therefore, this Book inculcates the highly diversified knowledge of science to the reader. In brief, the study such as the present one embraces many disciplines and provides not only general, academic knowledge, but specific as well. Thus, the authors have tried their best in discussing the variety of scientific knowledge essential to the understanding of certain verses of the Holy Qur’an.
