Professional Photographers of America Announces Live Broadcast of International Photographic Competition
ATLANTA, Ga. (PRWEB) July 23, 2015 -- For a second consecutive year, Professional Photographers of America (PPA) will stream the International Photographic Competition (IPC) judging live, August 3-6 on Stream.theIPC.org. This year will also feature the new IPC Live broadcast, which will have live interviews and Q+A’s to supplement the judging stream.
IPC Live will be hosted by Florida wedding photographer and past Imaging USA speaker, Booray Perry, Cr.Photog., CPP. Perry will break down the IPC action with interactive interviews and discussions twice a day. Viewers can post questions for Perry to answer on the air and comment live online, giving them unprecedented access to inquire about the process as it happens. The stream can be viewed on a computer by members and non-members alike at no cost, Monday, August 3 through Thursday, August 6. The public is also invited to attend the judging in person.
The live stream allows entrants to follow along with the judging in real time and let prospective competitors check out the process. For those considering the competition, this behind the scenes look is an excellent opportunity to learn what the judges are looking for and remove any apprehension they might have to enter.
PPA is also encouraging studios around the world to host viewing parties with their photography friends. Viewers can post pictures to social media and follow along with other studios using the hashtag #IPClive. Participants will be alerted via text message when their submissions are up for judging to help ensure they don’t miss seeing their images be judged. Last year, roughly 1,600 viewers from 13 different countries tuned in.
During the competition, 45 eminent jurors from across the United States will select the top photographs from over 5,000 total entries at Gwinnett Technical College in Lawrenceville, Georgia. Winning images enter into the General Collection or the esteemed Loan Collection—the best of the best. The Loan Collection images will all be published in the much-anticipated “Loan Collection” book and over 200 selected General Collection images will be published in the “Showcase” book by Marathon Press. Images accepted into the General and Loan Collections will also be on display at Imaging USA in Atlanta, Georgia, Jan. 10-12, 2016, making up one of the world’s largest annual exhibits of professional photography gathered simultaneously under one roof.
To watch, go to Stream.theIPC.org. PPA photographers will sign in with their PPA account. Non-PPA photographers can simply register at no cost with an email. Once you’re signed in, there are multiple judging rooms to watch (portrait, illustrative and event and non-event album) as well as the IPC Live broadcast.
