Professional Research Consultant’s Joe Inguanzo, Ph. D. Inducted into University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Hall of Computing
OMAHA, Nebraska (PRWEB) April 13, 2015 -- The Computer Science and Engineering Department at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) is inducting Professional Research Consultants, Inc., President and CEO Joe Inguanzo, Ph. D. into its Nebraska Hall of Computing.
This year’s inductees are individuals with deep ties to Nebraska who have made significant contributions to one or more of the fields of computer and information science and engineering, the development and utilization of computing technology and computing education.
“This year we are honoring an extremely accomplished and diverse group of professionals,” said Matthew Dwyer, chair of the UNL’s computer science and engineering department. The inductees include founders and executive officers of companies that have used computing across a range of industries and have employed many thousands, academics who are highly respected for both their research and educational impacts, and research fellows of two of the most influential computing companies in history.”
Dr. José “Joe” M. Inguanzo was born and raised in Cuba. On July 4, 1962, he and his mother, sisters and brother arrived in Miami. In just a few months, his mother received an offer to teach Spanish in Burwell, Nebraska, and shortly after the family made its home on the Great Plains.
An aptitude for numbers and a desire to apply them in ways that would help people, fueled his choice to enroll in engineering at UNL in 1964. There he quickly gained enough expertise to work on the mainframe installation in Nebraska Hall on campus and by 1970, and earn both his bachelor’s and his master’s degrees. Inguanzo then went on to consult with clients, helping them prepare, administer and analyze survey results, before pursing his Ph.D.
In 1979, Inguanzo co-founded Professional Research Consultants, Inc., also known as “PRC,” with his wife Joyce and two close friends—all UNL alums. Driven by his vision of helping hospitals and healthcare networks use custom research to achieve excellence, PRC is now the industry’s largest, privately held, minority-owned, healthcare-exclusive custom market research consultancy. The company employs nearly 1,000 people in its Omaha Neb., headquarters.

The Hall of Computing will officially induct Dr. Inguanzo and his fellow honorees during a ceremony on April 10 at the Cornhusker Hotel in Lincoln, Nebraska.
