Project Access promotes Alcohol Awareness Month through educational initiative with Harbor Distributing LLC
(PRWEB) April 21, 2015 -- In support of Alcohol Awareness month, Project Access announced that it will incorporate alcohol awareness education into its program through the “Stand against Underage Drinking Whiteboard Activity” for teens and parents at 43 Family Resource Centers in California, Colorado and Arizona. Underscoring the importance of alcohol awareness, Project Access is also partnering with Harbor Distributing to provide its children and parents with resources from the Health Alliance on Alcohol.
The Health Alliance on Alcohol resources directly support the Alcohol Awareness Educational initiative designed by Project Access during which teens ages 13 -18 participate in a hands -on activity. The activity presents the children with a statement: I stand against underage drinking because… then they identify one reason they chose not to engage in underage drinking. The next step is for them to express their reason by completing the sentence on a whiteboard and have their picture taken and displayed. Upon completion of their stand, they are rewarded with a red ribbon that represents Alcohol Awareness Month. Additionally, the children’s parents will have access to the HAA resources to continue the discussions with their children at home.

The first phase of the Youth Alcohol Abuse Prevention Program recently conducted at 14 Project Access Family Resource Centers in Orange County reached 72 youths.
A national education initiative addressing underage consumption of alcohol through adult/child communications, the Health Alliance on Alcohol provides materials to help parents, guardians, teachers and mentors start and continue the tough conversations with youth around alcohol and the issues teens face.
