Project GOAL Receives $30,000 Grant from the Walmart Foundation
(PRWEB) January 22, 2014 -- Project GOAL, Inc. recently received a $30,000 grant from the Walmart Foundation. The grant was awarded as part of the Walmart Foundation’s State Giving Program. (Attached Photo Caption Info At Bottom Of Release)
The grant funds will be used to help pay for the basic needs of Project GOAL’s program, which uses the power of sport, specifically soccer, to help kids keep focused and disciplined to stay in school, stay out of trouble, graduate high school, and go onto higher education. It is an academic and life skills program disguised as a soccer program. According to Project GOAL, the funds will be used for bus transportation, teacher and coach salaries, snacks, school supplies, monitoring and evaluation tools, and promotional materials.
"We are very excited to have been selected by a large foundation like the Walmart Foundation for a grant award,” said Darius Shirzadi, Executive Director and Co-Founder of Project GOAL. “Funds like this allow us to continue serving many needy children within Rhode Island's inner cities. This recognition helps confirm that we are positively impacting young lives and hope it will serve notice to other corporations of our good work. We thank the Foundation and its grants committee for selecting Project GOAL for this award."

To be considered for support, perspective grantee organizations must submit applications through the Walmart Foundation State Giving Program’s online grant application. Applicants must have a current 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status in order to meet the program’s minimum eligibility criteria.
