Project Paradigm Adds Keep Kids Fire Safe Foundation to its Coalition in Fight Against Home Fires
(PRWEB) September 14, 2015 -- Project Paradigm announced that the Keep Kids Fire Safe Foundation became a coalition partner for The Paradigm Challenge, a new contest that inspires youth to affect positive change in the world. The first annual Paradigm Challenge seeks original ideas to prevent injuries and fatalities from home fires—America’s #1 disaster threat.
“The Keep Kids Fire Safe Foundation has done some fantastic work when it comes to providing educational programs and resources for youth fire safety,” said Ricardo Chavira, Project Paradigm’s Marketing Director. “The story of five-year-old Angelica using what the Keep Kids Fire Safe Foundation taught her to save her Dad and herself from a home fire is very inspiring. Their foundation’s mission is consistent with what The Challenge is striving to achieve this year—involving youth in saving lives from home fires,” said Chavira.
Dayna Hilton, Executive Director, founded the Keep Kids Fire Safe Foundation in 2009. As a federally recognized non-profit charitable organization, the Foundation is dedicated to teaching fire safety knowledge and skills to children based on current fire safety research. The Foundation’s primary goal is to help reduce fire-related deaths and injuries among those most at risk, children, through its programs, safety materials, and strategic partnerships.
“The Keep Kids Fire Safe Foundation is excited to be a part of the Paradigm Challenge,” said Hilton. “We work with kids on fire safety every day, which makes the partnership a natural fit. We love the fact that The Paradigm Challenge allows youth to team up and join the fight against home fires. This provides children an opportunity to solve problems, create a solution and in turn, help reduce fire related deaths and injuries. We look forward to connecting with youth from across the world as we begin this journey," said Hilton.
Youth are reached by the Keep Kids Fire Safe Foundation through both in class visits and Skype sessions. By partnering with firefighters, educators, parents and others interested in promoting fire safety and prevention, the Foundation has been able to reach a growing number of youth. In 2014 alone, the KKFSF' 72 Fire Safety Skype programs reached more than 3,400 children across the globe. Participants learned basic fire safety principles, with a helping hand from Molly the Fire Safety Dog.
