Project Runway Alumna, Korto Momolu, Targets DC for a Charity Fundraiser
Washington, DC (PRWEB) October 24, 2013 -- Once again, the Cinderella Foundation is ‘making dreams a reality’ with their latest installment of the Fashion with a Purpose charity event, being held on Sunday, November 3, 2013 at the historic North Hall at Eastern Market on Capitol Hill. The signature event boasts Mistress of Ceremony, Carla Hall, celebrity chef of ABC’s ‘The Chew’ & Bravo’s ‘Top Chef’ fame alongside local favorite, ABC News 7 Meteorologist, Eileen Whelan.
The event will feature a live auction, a consignment & designers’ fashion boutique, hair cutting by leading Sebastian International Top Artist Anthony Cole and a fashion show – headlined by Korto Momolu of Project Runway fame. Fresh from her successful showing at New York Fashion Week, Kortos’ genius will grace the runway, yet again, with her signature designs emphasizing the events color of empowerment – green. Local fashion designer, Deidre Jefferies, will show her well sought collection, Espion, as well.
With the proceeds, the Cinderella Foundation, looks to fund its’ 2014 mission to Sierra Leone, West Africa to continue its efforts to better the lives of disenfranchised women through professional cosmetology training and/or funding another salon to help them financially provide for their families.
Over the last 10 years, I've been a witness to how small acts of kindness have transformed the lives of young girls in the DC community and women in Sierra Leone through the efforts of the Cinderella Foundation. This event is an opportunity to share this inspiration with a broader community who also share my passion for high fashion, fantastic hair, make-up and, of course, helping others,’ stated Diane Cole Stevens, Founder of the Cinderella Foundation.

The Cinderella Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization designed to empower young girls and women living in high risk and low income communities in the Washington Metropolitan region and abroad. The program works with girls through ongoing mentoring and academic enrichment, thereby strengthening their self-esteem and the women of Sierra Leone, West Africa providing cosmetology training to create economic opportunity to support themselves and their families in their war-torn country.
