Prominent M&A and Private Equity Lawyer Joins Global Law Firm Morrison & Foerster as London Corporate Head, Global M&A Co-Chair
London (PRWEB) July 01, 2015 -- Morrison & Foerster is pleased to announce that corporate lawyer Graeme Sloan has joined the firm’s London office as a partner in the Mergers and Acquisitions practice. He will head the firm’s London corporate practice and will serve as global co-chair of the firm’s M&A practice. Sloan’s arrival continues the expansion of the firm’s presence in Europe following the opening of the firm’s office in Germany.
Sloan joins the firm from Latham & Watkins, where he served as global co-chair of their M&A practice. His practice focuses on cross-border mergers and acquisitions, acting for both strategic and private equity buyers, as well as on corporate finance matters. He brings a wealth of experience advising on complex public and private M&A transactions across a broad range of industries, including life sciences and health care, energy, technology, financial services, consumer products, logistics, and retail.
“Graeme is a leading M&A lawyer in the UK and we are delighted he is joining the firm,” said Larren Nashelsky, chair of Morrison & Foerster. “Our successful recruitment of Graeme underscores our commitment to growing our global M&A and private equity practice at the highest levels of the market.”
Paul Friedman, Morrison & Foerster’s managing partner for Europe, said: “With a track record of building a successful corporate practice in London, Graeme will be instrumental in our continued expansion in the UK and continental Europe. His extensive experience advising clients on cross-border transactions will complement and build on our market-leading capabilities in the U.S., Asia, and Germany. ”
Thomas Knox, global co-chair of the firm’s Corporate Department, added: “The M&A market in the UK and Europe has seen significant growth recently, with deal levels soaring in 2014 and with 2015 on pace to be another banner year. Graeme’s arrival comes at a great time in the market cycle. His depth of experience in complex cross-border transactions will be invaluable to serving our clients in the region and around the globe.
“The global nature of Morrison & Foerster’s M&A practice attracted me to the firm,” added Sloan. “Morrison & Foerster has shown its commitment to expanding its global English law M&A platform by building on its exceptional capability in Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Singapore. I look forward to being part of this dynamic and growing practice.”
Sloan received his LL.B. (Hons) from the University of Glasgow in 1984, and his Dip LP from the University of Edinburgh in 1985. He is a registered foreign lawyer in England and Wales, and a solicitor in Scotland. He is also recognized as a leading lawyer by Chambers.
