Propane Council of Texas to Host Action-Packed Safety Training for Emergency Responders
COLLEGE STATION, TX (PRWEB) September 10, 2015 -- On September 28-29, the Propane Council of Texas (ProCOT) will host a two-day action-packed propane safety training for Texas emergency responders at the world-renowned Brayton Training Field in College Station, TX. The famous fire field operated by the Texas A & M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) hosts over 45,000 emergency responders a year from around the globe, and this September will host a number of first responders from across the state of Texas for the Council’s upcoming training.
Propane is a cleaner-burning, domestic fuel of which 98 percent is produced in the United States. A large majority of propane comes from right here in Texas, where we house the largest propane storage in the world.
“While propane is a safe fuel when properly stored, transported, handled and used, safety is one of the Texas propane industry’s highest priorities,” says Jackie Mason, Education & Marketing Director. “The training will give emergency responders a basic understanding of propane and the knowledge and skills to help safely manage a variety of potential propane emergencies, in case there is an incident.”
The course, which is based on the national Propane Education & Research Council (PERC)’s comprehensive Propane Emergencies Program, is used by over 27 state firefighter training agencies. Emergency responders attending the propane safety training will get an opportunity to learn about propane incidents that they may encounter in their service areas from a propane storage fire to what to do in an incident involving an18-wheeler hauling propane. The course includes eight hours of action-packed live-fire field training.
The training is geared toward anyone involved in propane safety and response activities, including propane retailers, transporters, firefighters, fire marshals, hazmat trainers, and other emergency responders.
