ProRehab Assisting Official Training Program for YMCA Half Marathon
Evansville, IN (PRWEB) September 25, 2013 -- ProRehab and Team 13, the official training program for the 10th annual YMCA Evansville Half Marathon, are helping both experienced and novice athletes prepare for the October 5th race.
Every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday for the 13 weeks leading up to October 5th, members of Team 13 meet to train and prepare for the half marathon, with Saturdays reserved for longer runs. Runs are held at various locations throughout the city, often involving parts of the route that are used for the official race.
Several of ProRehab’s therapists participate in the training sessions, and the practice also provides bike support, first aid, and hydration to participants during the longer runs. Additionally, ProRehab staff members run formal seminars on injury prevention, health and safety while training for the race, and help check team members for injury. ProRehab also offers first aid as well as at water stations during the 5k, 10k and 15k races leading up to the half marathon.
“It’s been a great opportunity to see the YMCA Evansville Half Marathon from the perspective of a first responder, participant, and Team 13 volunteer. I am very proud to represent ProRehab in all these roles,” said Anne Basden, PT, DPT, CSCS, and marathoner. “We’re impressed by the way the YMCA has grown the running community of Evansville and plan to remain a community resource for runners.”
Coworker Mindy Riley, PT, DPT, MTC, CSCS, agrees, “We’re thrilled to be involved with Team 13 and the YMCA Evansville Half Marathon. It’s a wonderful opportunity for us to really connect within the community and spread the word about injury prevention and safety.”
Registration for the YMCA Evansville Half Marathon can be completed online or by mail through October 4th at http://evansvillehalfmarathon.org/registration/. The race will take place October 5th at 7:00 AM.
