Protect America's Pay It Forward Challenge at the University of Florida Won by Student Agency Optical Advertising

Gainesville, Florida (PRWEB) April 29, 2014 -- The University of Florida and home security giant Protect America have announced this year's winner of the charitable communications project "Pay It Forward" as student team Optical Advertising. The Pay It Forward Challenge tasks Advertising student groups with seeking local nonprofit organizations who they take as a client for an entire semester. The student agencies perform advertising, marketing, public relations and communications work for the charities and present their work for consideration at the end of the semester.

Without such partnerships like those from UF and Protect America we simply would not be able to provide food to almost 150 agencies who last year distributed over 6.1 million pounds of food!

Cynthia Morton Padovano, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Advertising and acting professor for the Pay It Forward Challenge at the University of Florida, said her students have “benefited from the unique experience of finding resources, such as pro-bono partners and gratis donations.”

Optical Advertising’s nonprofit client was Bread of the Mighty Food Bank, a large food bank distributing millions of meals to food pantries each year in Florida. Optical Advertising focused on generating awareness, fundraising and interest from potential volunteers with the use of clever advertising, public relations and communications strategies.

“Bread of the Mighty Food Bank is thrilled to work in partnership with Protect America, Inc. and the University of Florida,” says CEO and President Marcia Conwell. “Without such partnerships like those from UF and Protect America we simply would not be able to provide food to almost 150 agencies who last year distributed over 6.1 million pounds of food!”
