Protecting Against Listeria Outbreaks with Air Scrubber Plus
New York, New York (PRWEB) December 22, 2014 -- In light of the recent Listeria outbreak traced to pre-packaged caramel apples, which has killed at least four people and sickened 28 in 10 states, as of December 19th, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Air Scrubber Plus with ActivePure technology, offers the only environmental technology that is proven to eliminate up to 99.75% of Listeria and other contaminants in the air and surfaces of the home. The CDC urges consumers to avoid pre-packaged caramel apples.
According to the CDC, Listeria is transmitted through contaminated food ingested by humans. Those most at risk include pregnant women, newborns, the elderly and anyone with a compromised immune system. Symptoms of Listeria include: fever, muscle aches, diarrhea, and may include fatigue, headache, stiff neck, loss of balance and confusion.
"Air Scrubber Plus ActivePure technology underwent rigorous testing at Kansas State University, and was found to reduce up to 99.75% of Listeria on surfaces," said Tom Lozano, executive director of Air Scrubber Plus. "Air Scrubber Plus can be an essential tool in food preparation areas and your family's kitchen to help prevent the bacteria from spreading."
The Kansas State University study led by Dr. James Marsden also found that the technology was effective at reducing the following: MRSA (99.8% reduction), Staphylococcus aureus (98.5% reduction), Escherichia coli (E. coli, 98.1% reduction), Anthrax Family (99.38% reduction), Streptococcus spp. (96.4% reduction), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (99% reduction), Listeria monocytogenes (99.75% reduction), Candida albicans (99.92% reduction), and black mold (99.93% reduction). The study was conducted on stainless steel surfaces in a controlled airflow cabinet.
Air Scrubber Plus works via a combination of light, oxygen and water molecules reacting together and passing through the honeycomb cell coated with a proprietary formulation of non-nano titanium dioxide and other highly reactive metals. This Advanced Oxidation Process produces superoxide ions, hydroxyls and hydrogen peroxide, which in turn clean the air and surfaces in the indoor environment.
Active Pure is a variation of the technology used by NASA for the International Space Station and is recognized as the exclusive Certified Space Technology by the Space Foundation in its category. ActivePure technology was donated to the Pentagon after the 9/11 attacks and worked to clear the air from harmful contaminants left after the tragedy. ActivePure technology is currently used at the Liberty Bell and the Ground Zero Museum, providing safe, fresh air for the visitors.
Air Scrubber Plus®, with ActivePure™ technology, cleans, freshens and purifies the air using a proprietary light technology that creates enviroscrubbing molecules of oxygen and hydrogen. According to a study conducted at the University of Cincinnati, Air Scrubber Plus is 50 times more effective at reducing contaminants in the air than traditional HVAC filtration. Air Scrubber Plus® with ActivePure™ technology is based on a variation of technology originally developed in cooperation with NASA for use in the International Space Station and is recognized as the exclusive Certified Space Technology by the Space Foundation in its category.
