ProvenSport.com Helps Validate Serious Runners by Providing Certified Bragging Rights
Albany, GA (PRWEB) September 26, 2013 -- In childhood sports, the favorite part about completing an athletic season of any given sport was after the last game, when the trophies were given out. One Georgia entrepreneur is bringing that thrill into adulthood, but without the marble base and shiny, gold colored, plastic figure on top.
A different type of generic trophy can be seen all over the country. They are on back windshields everywhere, from the luxury sedan to the 4x4 truck. They are often even found flanking the family character stickers on the back of the minivan in the school pickup line. Simple messages like “26.2,” “13.1,” “Live to Run,” “Running is Life,” Tri,” or just “RUN.” Why are they there? It's quite simple. Pride. Pride in both achievement and association.
After noticing just how many people are proud to claim to be runners, Dr. Nate Dallas started a new brand called ProvenSport.com. The organization provides certified running decals for athletes who have successfully achieved certain athletic milestones. One day when riding around his hometown in Georgia, Dallas kept noticing generic running decals on the back of people’s automobiles. These decals often just mean, “I participated” but don't inform the onlooker of how well the person finished the race, or even if they actually finished it at all. Dallas thought it would be nice for elite athletes to have a way to show that they did more than just participate. After one discussion with his business partner, ProvenSport.com was born. After a few trademarks were attained and a few designs completed, a new club began to emerge for elite athletes.
ProvenSport.com offers custom athletic decals, or as they call it, “certified bragging rights”, but there is a catch. These novel products are only available to people who can provide information to validate the achievement. No results... no decal. If athletes cannot provide proof of their achievement, they are unable to receive the goods. “The validation process is really easy these days,” says Dallas, “Most every endurance race has official digital timing and posts race results online. Customers just provide a link, and we cross-check the names and finishing times to validate the order.”
ProvenSport.com currently stocks decals for marathons, half-marathons, and triathlons. The company is working on designs to add more sporting options and expand their product offerings. Apparel options are being designed now too. The top selling marathon decal boasts the trademarked message, “SUB 3 CLUB.” This elite club is only for runners who have finished a full 26.2 mile marathon in under 3 hours. The founder stated, “A three hour marathon is an amazing achievement, and people should be proud to show it. You don’t arrive at that finishing time without some serious dedication and discipline.”
The ProvenSport crew hopes that people will be proud of their own achievements, that they will gain respect from other athletes, and that they will use the validation as motivation to go even further. “Some people get the decals because they just want to “one-up” their buddies, and that’s fine,” says the founder. But Dallas is happy to know that many people who have really dedicated significant time, money, and energy into their goal, will receive some due recognition for it. He says candidly, “These simple stickers motivate us and give us a sense of self-achievement. People should be proud of these milestones. Discipline is a fading virtue in our unhealthy society that is so focused on quick convenience.” We should be proud of self-motivation, hard work, personal health, and wellness."
One recent customer, who is now in his 70’s and STILL running marathons, was still proud of his “Sub 3” race from 35 years ago. To validate the race, the man sent in a new picture of an old newspaper clipping that he had in a shoebox in his attic. ProvenSport.com shipped him his decal with a simple message. "Congrats on your success. Keep up the pace!"
